We are looking for a Cape Town-based Media Specialist who is not only a sharp strategist and planner but also deeply connected to the culture, communities, and rhythm of the Cape Town landscape . This is a key client-facing role for someone who can think digitally and through-the-line (TTL) — and bring a fresh, local lens to national and regional brand campaigns.
You’ll be the go-to for turning brand objectives into actionable, measurable media strategies that cut through the noise — whether that’s in Khayelitsha, the Southern Suburbs, or along the Atlantic Seaboard.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Craft media strategies that are deeply rooted in local insights and audience behavior's , across all channels — digital, OOH, print, radio, TV, activations, and emerging formats.
Build TTL media plans that reflect the diverse Cape Town context while achieving broader brand goals.
Lead the integration of media, culture, and creativity to build memorable, effective campaigns.
Digital Innovation & Media Leadership
Drive innovative thinking in digital media — from programmatic to influencers, geo-targeting, content partnerships , and AI-powered tools.
Recommend and test new digital formats and platform innovations relevant to both urban and township markets .
Interpret and translate data into smart, scalable media optimization's in partnership with the implementation team.
Client Partnership
Be a trusted strategic partner to Cape Town-based and national clients.
Lead client engagements and build long-term, value-driven relationships.
Communicate complex ideas simply and powerfully — whether in a boardroom or over a flat white in the city bowl.
Execution & Impact
Collaborate with media buyers, creatives, and analysts to ensure strategies are executed with excellence.
Measure, report, and optimize — ensuring clients see value and impact at every turn.
Continuously test, learn, and improve based on local performance insights.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills & Experience
Experience in media strategy and planning — with a strong Cape Town network and track record .
Deep knowledge of the South African and Cape Town media landscape — from community radio to niche Instagram influencers.
Digital-native with experience in paid media (social, search, programmatic, display), audience segmentation, and media performance tools.
Able to plan across the full media ecosystem — TTL thinker with a sharp eye for integration.
Personal Attributes
Cape Town local : you know the difference between Sea Point and Strandfontein, and how that affects media choices.
You’re inspired by local culture, and understand how to tap into hyper-relevant media moments and platforms.
You bring energy, creativity, and accountability into every room — with a proactive, can-do attitude.
Collaborative, curious, culturally aware, and passionate about making meaningful media work.
Bonus Points
Experience on brands with strong regional/local footprints .
Fluency in isiXhosa or Afrikaans a plus.
Worked with Cape Town-based content creators or community media outlets.
