Role Purpose To support the execution of trades across equities, derivatives, and foreign exchange markets under the guidance of senior dealers, ensuring timely and accurate trade processing and contributing to the delivery of optimal outcomes for internal Asset Management and Multi-Management clients

Requirements Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Investment Management, or a related field.
  • Progress toward or interest in completing JSE Registered Persons Exams (RPE) is advantageous.
  • 0–2 years of experience in financial markets, trading support, or investment environment.
  • Exposure to investment management systems and market data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg) is beneficial.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Stakeholder relationship management


Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the Head: Dealing plan for, implement and take joint accountability for the best-practice framework in trading for Momentum Investments.
  • Responsible for all dealing activities within the equity, FX and derivatives portfolios within Momentum Investments.
  • Assist in placing and monitoring trade orders across equities, FX, and derivatives.
  • Ensure trade instructions are accurately captured and communicated to brokers and administrative providers (Apex).
  • Reconcile trades with brokers and custodians to ensure settlement accuracy.
  • Contribute to a healthy collaborative relationship between the brokers and the investment team.
  • Extract market information whilst being discrete.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and best practice to enhance and improve dealing processes.
  • Keep abreast with current legislation and adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to internal trading policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the documentation and record-keeping of trade activity for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Actively share information with other team members regarding successes, issues, trends and processes.
  • Review orders to ensure accuracy, proper record keeping, and conformance to regulations.
  • Review pricing on exotic structures and liaise with pricing agents to ensure accuracy prior to execution.
  • Track market developments, drivers and news relevant to trading activities, maintain and share market knowledge.
  • Prepare daily trade summaries and assist in compiling market commentary for internal stakeholders
  • Provide structuring ideas and source best pricing for derivatives and ensure accuracy in execution with counterparty.
  • Ensure that the best prices are sourced and fixed income instruments are dealt correctly and the settlement process is followed correctly.
  • Take accountability for the management of business-related risks.
  • Ensure costs are reduced and no losses are incurred due to misdeals.
  • Provide input into the risk identification processes and communicate recommendations in the appropriate forum
  • Ensure effective financial management, control and corporate governance.


Client services


  • Build and maintain excellent relationships between the key internal interest groups, such as portfolio management teams, macro research, fixed income, equity research and portfolio construction teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external providers and brokers.
  • Provide a professional and exceptional Dealing service.
  • Ensure timeous and best execution.
  • Continuously communicate and update key interest parties updated and informed.
  • Ensure efficient and coherent communication is maintained at all times in order to translate portfolio managers instructions into instructions to the market that enable best execution.
