To plan and prepare nutritious meals for the dredger crew and to ensure the safe and economical operation of the catering services function of the craftPosition Outputs
- Plan meals for a 2 week period.
- Draw up menu's.
- Prepares meals (economically)Prepares mess room for meals.
- Supervises and Cleans catering area, equipment, stores, and fridges.
- Performs stock take & present requirement to Master.
- Check deliveries (quantities & quality) and pack in stores.
- Replenish stores items.
- Safe stowage of Stores.
- Supervises stewards.
- Ensure hygienic conditions of catering areas.
- Cleanliness and timekeeping
- To prepare meals to ensure well-nourished crew
- Meals have to be on time
- Culture differences and religious beliefs have to be taken into account when meals are being prepared
- Grade 12
- Efficient Cook Certificate of Competence
- SAMSA medical certificate - valid
- STCW compliant – ancillary courses
- Minimum 6 months experience working in the relevant position (cook) onboard a vessel Or
- Efficient Cook Certificate of Competence
- Minimum 1 year experience working in the relevant position (cook) onboard a vessel
- SAMSA medical certificate - valid
