Maintenance Assistant

Are you a hands-on individual with a passion for fixing things and keeping operations running smoothly? We are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team and support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring the upkeep and reliability of our manufacturing plant and associated facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in performing regular inspections of facilities to identify issues or necessary repairs.

• Carry out basic maintenance tasks such as replacing light fixtures, fixing leaks, and minor carpentry.

• Support maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager.

• Assist with preventative maintenance activities as per the maintenance schedule.

• Help monitor and manage inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.

• Provide support to external contractors during on-site repairs or installations.

• Assist in ensuring all equipment and tools are maintained in safe working condition.

• Conduct general upkeep duties such as cleaning, painting, and shopfitting touch-ups as required.

• Accompany the Maintenance Manager on monthly store inspections and provide on-site assistance.

• Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies as directed.

• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company standards.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Proven experience as a maintenance assistant or similar entry-level technical role (advantageous).

• Basic knowledge of maintenance procedures, tools, and equipment.

• Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items, working at heights, and performing manual labour.

• A willingness to learn and develop technical skills (electrical, plumbing, mechanical).

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training is an advantage.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to different store locations in Gauteng.
