Occupational Health Practitioner

DUTIES:

• Provide a professional occupational health care service within a legal and ethical framework
• Attend to medical emergencies and injuries-on-duty onsite.
• Order medication and control stock for chronic illness through liaison with medical aid and the State Hospital
• Assist with pre-placement, periodical, transfer medicals and exit medical examinations as required by legislation
• Attend to employees who get injured on duty (emergencies)
• Keep records for all schedule medication and conduct routine monthly checks
• Organize and liaise with State Hospital with regards to chronic illness medication supplies
• Monitor and keep statistics for all chronic illnesses within Bell Richards Bay
• Liaise and organize the venue for blood donation and health related awareness campaigns
• Conduct health promotion talks

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing science
• Degree/Diploma/certificate in Occupational Health nursing
• Two years relevant experience
• Valid Code B drivers licence
• Must be computer literate
• Applicants must have certificates in the following:
  • Audiometry
  • Spirometry
  • Dispensing licence
  • HIV/Aids counselling course
  • Basic life support
  • Current registration with South African Nursing Council
  • Current registration with SASOHN
• Candidates with the following will have an added advantage:
  • Certificate in Primary Health + Nursing
  • Nimart HIV course (certificate in Nurse Initiated Management of Anti-Retroviral Therapy)
