We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial and Tax Accountant to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's tax and statutory compliance as well as month-end reporting and reconciliations. This role requires a deep understanding of South African tax laws and regulations, International Financial Reporting Standard for Small and Medium-sized Entities (IFRS for SME) as well as the ability to provide strategic tax and accounting advice to support business decisions.

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial and Tax Accountant to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's tax and statutory compliance as well as month-end reporting and reconciliations. This role requires a deep understanding of South African tax laws and regulations, International Financial Reporting Standard for Small and Medium-sized Entities (IFRS for SME) as well as the ability to provide strategic tax and accounting advice to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting:
- End of Month reporting – Maintain and reconcile General Ledger accounts.
- Prepare disclosures to ensure compliance with IFRS and other Accounting Standards.
- Assist External Accountant with Independent Review and preparation of Annual Financial Statements.
- Prepare income tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information.
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file Income Tax returns, Provisional Tax returns, VAT returns, Dividend Tax returns, and other statutory tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with all South African Revenue Service (SARS) regulations.
- Manage tax audits and disputes with SARS.
- Tax Planning and Advisory:
- Develop and implement tax-saving strategies.
- Provide tax advice on business transactions and new ventures.
- Conduct tax research and stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate tax and accounting risks.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for all tax-related activities.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification as a Tax Practitioner (SA) and Chartered/ Professional Accountant (SAIPA or SAICA).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and tax related roles.
- Proven experience in preparing and filing various tax returns.
- Experience in handling tax audits and disputes.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of South African tax laws and regulations as well as International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Registration:
- Registration with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) as a tax practitioner.
- Part-time position with flexible working hours.
- Ability to work remotely or from the office as required.
