About Sedna

Sedna is at the forefront of revolutionising global trade, serving as the North Star for businesses navigating the complexities of international commerce. Our AI-powered platform is designed to make global trade more efficient, transparent, and sustainable. As we continue to grow and innovate, we are looking for exceptional talent to join our journey and contribute to our mission of transforming global trade.

About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and highly organised People Operations Specialist to join our global People team. Based in Cape Town, this role plays a central part in delivering a smooth and compliant employee experience across the full lifecycle — from onboarding to offboarding, and everything in between.

You’ll be responsible for supporting core operational areas, including HR systems and data, global payroll coordination, documentation and compliance, and employee experience initiatives. The role also involves on-the-ground coordination in the Cape Town office — including ordering team lunches, supporting social events, and facilitating laptop procurement for new joiners and leavers.

This is a hands-on and globally connected role that supports teams across multiple time zones and collaborates closely with Finance and IT.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage employee records across our HR platforms, ensuring data is accurate, secure, and audit-ready.
  • Coordinate the flow of monthly global payroll data and benefits administration in partnership with internal teams and external providers.
  • Prepare, manage, and organise employment documentation, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across regions.
  • Support the onboarding and offboarding process — from systems access and equipment to documentation and experience.
  • Act as a key point of contact in the Cape Town office, helping to manage local logistics such as team lunches, laptop provisioning/collection, and ad hoc coordination needs.
  • Contribute to improving operational processes across the People function, identifying opportunities for automation, simplification, and better alignment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Finance, Workplace, and IT to ensure smooth, joined-up execution of People operations.

About You

  • Strong experience in People operations, administration, or payroll coordination in a global or multi-country environment.
  • Highly organised and systems-minded, with a sharp eye for detail and data integrity.
  • Comfortable working across HRIS platforms (e.g. HiBob), documentation tools (e.g. Notion), and payroll tools (e.g. Pento or similar).
  • Understanding of employment documentation and compliance requirements across different jurisdictions. A problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset — always looking for ways to streamline and optimise. Reliable, approachable, and trusted to handle sensitive information with discretion and care.
  • Confident in juggling day-to-day coordination tasks while also supporting larger, strategic initiatives.

Our Values:

Finally, culture is important to us, so we also look for candidates who share our values:

  • Stay Ahead, Stay Agile
  • We don’t just adapt-we anticipate change and act with confidence.
  • Curiosity, data, and customer insights help us stay ahead of the curve.

  • Execute With Focus
    • We turn strategy into action, delivering measurable results that matter.
    • Every initiative counts-discipline and ownership drive business impact.
    • We make smart decisions with speed, balancing pace and precision.
    • Clear priorities keep us focused on what moves the needle.
    • Work Together, Win Together
      • Collaboration is our superpower-we succeed as one team, internally and with customers.
      • We co-create solutions, seek feedback, and build the future of the OS together.
