Job Advert Summary

The Head of Supply Chain is responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain function, ensuring the efficient procurement, logistics, inventory, and delivery of components and services critical to solar and energy storage project execution. This role plays a strategic part in supporting Solareff’s growth, ensuring supply chain resilience, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with project timelines and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in supply chain roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
• Industry experience in renewable energy, engineering, or construction is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in international sourcing, import/export regulations, and contract management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Supply Chain Leadership

• To develop and execute the supply chain strategy aligned with company goals and project demands.
• To establish strong supplier networks locally and internationally, especially for solar PV components, inverters, batteries, and BOS (balance of system) equipment.
• Evaluate and mitigate supply chain risks, including price volatility, lead time disruptions, and geopolitical impacts.

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Lead procurement planning and supplier negotiations to achieve optimal pricing, quality, and terms.
• Oversee supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with B-BBEE and local content requirements where applicable.

Inventory & Logistics

• Manage inventory control systems for accurate forecasting, stock levels, and traceability.
• Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing, customs clearance, and delivery to project sites.
• Improve cost efficiency through optimized logistics and freight strategies.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Build and manage a high-performing supply chain team.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Project Management, Engineering, Finance teams to align supply with operational needs.
• Provide supply chain insights and reports to the executive team to support decision-making.

System & Process Optimisation

• Drive digital transformation and continuous improvement in supply chain operations (e.g., ERP, automation, dashboards).
• Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and KPIs for effective supply chain management.
• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sustainability standards across all supply chain activities.
