Date: 19 hours ago
City: Cape Town, Western Cape
Contract type: Full time
Remote

Location: South Africa (Remote)
Reports to: Head of Technology
Level: Mid/Senior
The role
We’re hiring a UX/Product Designer to lead the end-to-end design of thoughtful, usable, and elegant features across our SaaS platform. You’ll play a critical role in shaping how users experience our products - ensuring interfaces are intuitive, purposeful, and consistent. This is a hands-on role working across discovery, design, and iteration.
You’ll work closely with product managers, product owners, engineers and stakeholders to understand problems, explore solutions, and bring ideas to life. We’re looking for someone who balances user empathy with strong visual craft, and who’s just as comfortable sketching rough flows as they are polishing hi-fi mockups. You’ll bring a full product mindset - always focused on solving real user problems with design that feels considered from end to end.

We’re looking for someone who balances user empathy with strong visual craft, and who’s just as comfortable sketching rough flows as they are polishing hi-fi mockups. You’ll bring a full product mindset - always focused on solving real user problems with design that feels considered from end to end.
What you'll do
- Lead design on features from discovery to delivery - mapping user needs and iterating on the best approach
- Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that communicate design intent clearly
- Conduct and support user research, usability testing and feedback synthesis
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and QA to shape scope, solve edge cases, and ensure quality implementation
- Contribute to and maintain our design system to ensure consistency and efficiency
- Use tools like Figma, Miro, and Notion to document and share your work
- Use AI tools to speed up exploratory thinking, generate UI variations, or help synthesise feedback
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term design vision and system thinking
- Support rollout of features by providing assets, specs and QA as needed
- You have 4+ years’ experience in a UX or Product Design role, ideally within a SaaS or web application environment
- You have a strong portfolio demonstrating thoughtful, real-world design work - from problem to execution
- You’re confident with Figma and can create systems, components, and prototypes efficiently
- You design with a solid understanding of UX principles, accessibility, and responsive behaviour
- You care deeply about how things feel as much as how they look—attention to detail is your default
- You’re comfortable working in agile product teams and collaborating directly with engineers
- You take a research-informed approach, but aren’t paralysed by the need for perfect data
- You actively use AI tools to accelerate ideation, generate design variants, or streamline workflows
- You’re an excellent communicator—able to articulate rationale, ask the right questions, and give constructive feedback
- You’re a self-starter who spots opportunities, takes initiative, and thrives in ambiguity
- You bring energy, curiosity, and care to your work—and make the team better just by being part of it
- You’re comfortable working in an agile (with a lowercase ‘a’) team—collaborative and iterative, without rigid process
- You’ve got a proactive mindset—if something needs fixing or improving, you crack on
- You look for ways to improve the product every day, not just when you’re handed a new brief
- You have a maker mindset—you take pride in shipping well-crafted, real-world solution
- You care deeply about technology and stay curious about where it’s going
