Clockwork, an award-winning, independent creative and communications agency, is looking for a Mid-level Copywriter with solid B2B writing experience and a strong background in agency, brand, or publishing environments to join our growing content team. We’re offering the right person the opportunity to work with a leading client in the automotive sector, delivering high-quality content across a wide range of formats and platforms.

This role calls for a confident writer with excellent editorial judgment, a proactive mindset, and the ability to engage directly with client stakeholders. You’ll be part of a team that values initiative, professionalism, and strategic thinking.

Key responsibilities

Copy:

  • Create standout content that is accurate, well-researched, engaging, and aligned to client goals and tone.
  • Write across a range of formats including internal and external communications, social media, web copy, press releases, newsletters, and more.
  • Develop a sound understanding of the client’s business, products, services, and positioning within the market.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and source material as needed to inform content creation.
  • Assist in developing content strategies that support campaign and business objectives.
  • Respond to feedback thoughtfully and revise work accordingly.
  • Stay up to date with content trends, platform requirements, and best practices.

Project ownership and delivery:

  • Manage briefs and timelines independently while collaborating with internal and client teams as needed.
  • Ensure content meets the brief, stays on deadline, and aligns with broader campaign or brand messaging.
  • Participate in client meetings, manage stakeholder input, and take ownership of deliverables from start to finish.

Team collaboration:

  • Work seamlessly and collaboratively across departments and disciplines.
  • Support colleagues with content guidance, insight, and review where appropriate.
  • Communicate proactively to manage expectations and ensure smooth project delivery.


Essential experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in a copywriting role.
  • Proven B2B writing experience is essential.
  • Experience across digital, print, and social content.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, professional environments.
  • Exposure to stakeholder interaction and collaborative content development is advantageous.
  • Johannesburg-based or residing in surrounding areas (the role requires one day per week on-site in Midrand).
  • Relevant degree or diploma in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
