Purpose of Role

To assist in the effective management of media post-production activities, coordinate the preparation, organisation, and distribution of media and content administration, shootings, sound and camera operations and that captured footage aligns with the educational objectives of the various projects.

Objectives of Role


Post-production support

  • Track & record attendance and participation of PLC sessions.
  • Handle all footage from storage cards, organize, and prepare it for the Lead Editor to create the offline edit.
  • Apply smooth transitions (e.g., fade in/out, cross dissolve) and visual effects to enhance the flow of the footage.
  • Edit and enhance audio elements, including adjusting sound levels, removing background noise, syncing audio with visuals, and incorporating music or voiceovers to elevate the overall audio-visual experience.
  • Adjust footage to achieve a polished, consistent look through colour grading, contrast, brightness, and saturation enhancements.
  • Maintain an organized file structure and manage multiple project versions to ensure efficient collaboration and easy retrieval of previous edits.

Media and Content Administration

  • Coordinate and liaise with freelance professionals (e.g., subtitle providers) to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Organize and prepare video content for online distribution across various platforms.
  • Share videos with subtitles, ensure subtitles are properly formatted, and save them for future use or reference.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining project tracking in Monday.com, including ad-hoc photo search support.
  • Generate and provide QR codes in a timely manner as required for campaigns or promotions.
  • Upload final videos to YouTube, ensuring all video formats are correctly processed.
  • Make videos available for upload to the website and ensure all necessary links are populated.

Camera operator

  • Transport, set up, and organize camera equipment and gear on location to ensure smooth and efficient shoot operations.
  • Adapt to diverse shooting environments and lighting conditions, ensuring the desired visual effects are achieved regardless of external factors.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in camera technology and industry best practices, integrating new techniques to maintain a high standard of production.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with the production team to address technical issues, provide creative input, and ensure smooth filming progress.
  • Ensure consistency in visual style, quality, and overall production value across multiple projects, while accommodating each project's unique requirements and objectives.

Sound Operator

  • Set up and test all audio equipment before filming to ensure optimal functionality and performance throughout the shoot.
  • Continuously monitor sound levels during filming to ensure clear, balanced, and distortion free audio is captured.
  • Identify potential sources of ambient noise and take proactive measures to mitigate interference, ensuring high-quality, clean audio recordings.
  • Audio Quality Checks: Conduct regular checks on recorded audio during filming, promptly addressing any issues such as audio distortion or equipment malfunction to maintain consistency.

DIT on Site

  • Oversee the capture of high-quality footage on-site, ensuring all digital media is properly recorded and prepared for immediate use, while adhering to best practices in data management.
  • Perform on-site data backup and ensure secure storage of all content, safeguarding footage against loss or corruption during production. Apply industry-standard methods for data protection and organization.
  • Utilize advanced computer skills and software to manage, process, and transfer footage efficiently. Stay current with the latest digital imaging technologies and best practices to ensure the highest standards in footage handling.


Experience and Qualifications


  • Alignment with the Funda Wande’s Vision, Mission & Values.
  • Have a minimum qualification of matric or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field.
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Are between 18 and 34 years of age.
  • Have never held a full-time position before and preferably have not participated on a learnership or internship before.
  • Live within 50 kms from our oKices/site, which is situated at Black River Park, 2 Fir Street, Observatory.
  • Are not currently in full time studies and able to attend this internship full time.
  • Are willing to be subjected to a credit and criminal check or any industry specific checks required for your job role.
  • Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups and people with disabilities in accordance with the organisation employment equity plan.
