Key roles and responsibilities:
Lecture and assess contact learning and distance learning students in the BEd (foundation phase teaching) and the BEd (intermediate phaset teaching) programmes in the following modules:
Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
Participate in relevant programme, curriculum, and material development.
Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
Carry out invigilation of venue-based assessments as reasonably required by the Registrar’s Office.
Participate in school-based Teaching Practice assessments.
Provide academic support to students.
Complete all quality assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
Participate in research and community engagement projects.
Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.
Requirements:
Sound teaching and assessment skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisation, administration, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to cope with change.
Willingness to work when required on Saturdays
Knowledge:
Knowledge and understanding of the subject matter as well as work-based learning (teaching practice).
Experience in curriculum and materials development.
Experience in online teaching and learning environments will be an advantage.
Minimum requirements:
At least three years of teaching and /or lecturing experience in the relevant phase/disciplines.
Must be in possession of a relevant teaching qualification.
Minimum bachelor of education honours or equivalent qualification with relevant study in Afrikaans teaching and teaching practice.
