As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Shift Team Leader within our Groceries Division at Randfontein.

The purpose of this role is to,oversee the routine analysis, testing and other handling of samples. To ensure accurate and timeous collection,testing and reporting of results to the plants. Ensure that all lab testing is according to the ISO 17025 and to ensure implementation of the standard and maintenance of accreditation.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Verify that lab analysts in the team adhere to correct testing methods, specs, testing frequency and timelines.
  • Monitor and report stock levels for consumables timeously.
  • Collection of samples for analysis as required
  • Analyze incoming raw materials, intermediate products, final and shelf-life products according to product test checklist.
  • Record results on Database (DMS/SHERQX)
  • Perform internal calibrations as per schedule and ensure all Lab equipment is with current calibration status before use.
  • Issuing Non-Conformance reports for out of specification results to plants.
  • Follow up on product place on hold (Ensure quantity and product details is communicated to the Lab Senior Analyst and Plant).
  • Verification of product identification provide by factory
  • Facilitate sample preparation for external testing.
  • Ensure sufficient retention samples are collected for storage for all products as stipulated and maintain the retention room as clean and orderly as possible.
  • Assist with clearing of retention rooms as per schedule.
  • Ensure all QC charts are done and verified according to the SOP and equipment procedure. Report all QC charts deviations to Senior Lab Analyst.
  • Participate in AFCO PT as well as Lab Inter/Intra Lab testing.
  • Assist is method and equipment validation of all non-validated methods and equipment’s.
  • Participate in Lab Internal audits to ensure continuous improvement and maintenance of SANAS accreditation.
  • Facilitate training of all junior and Lab interns to ensure full competency on all lab test methods, equipment’s and ISO 17025.

Minimum Requirements

  • Completed NDip/BTech/BSC in Food Technology/Biotechnology or similar qualification.
  • Min 1-to-2-year relevant working experience in a Laboratory with knowledge of ISO 17025 and other food relevant standards (HACCP, GMP and FSSC 22000)
  • Working knowledge on MS Office
