Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Field and respond to technical queries relating to accounting, auditing and ethical standards.
- Manage firm internal consultation process on technical matters and queries raised by engagement teams.
- Monitoring of the pre-issuance review process on audits.
- Provide ongoing and closer support to pre-issuance reviewers on consistency, risks and quality issues that need to be addressed during pre-issuance review process.
- Provide technical assistance with accounting, auditing as well as queries related to other laws and regulations.
- Perform IFRS and IFRS for SME Financial statement reviews.
- Make technical related presentations to staff and/or at partner level.
- Assist with preparing IFRS and IFRS for SME accounting opinions.
- Develop technical training of new theoretical matters, such as ISA's and IFRS, and also develop the practical application guidance.
- Assist with audit methodology development (including design and review of template working papers).
- Assist with the design of appropriate and practical policies.
- Assist with Root Cause Analyses and Remedial Action Plans which relate to technical matters.
- Proactively and on a timely basis make the firm aware of local and international developments relevant to the public accounting profession.
- Oversight of developments in the audit software, including issuing good practices.
- Draft and submit commentary letters to regulatory bodies, providing feedback and input on the amendments that have been recently published in relation to IFRS and ISA.
- Registered CA(SA)
- Minimum 1 year post-articles experience in a technical environment.
- Working knowledge of ISQM 1 & 2 and the IRBA Code.
- Expert knowledge of the ISAs.
- Expert knowledge of IFRS and IFRS for SME.
- A passion for all things technical.
- Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Impeccable attention to detail.
- Able to present technical material at a senior level.
- Deadline driven.
- An excellent communicator of technical material, decisions, and policies
- Comfortable interacting with senior staff and partners
- Working knowledge of CaseWare, Excel, Word, Pastel, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Experience in GreatSoft would be an advantage.
- Own transport, a valid driver's license and willingness to travel. (Beneficial but not a prerequisite)
