Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our team in Johannesburg. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with SOX audit controls, and alignment with both local statutory requirements and WPP’s global standards. What You'll Do

  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with IFRS, WPP policies, and local regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to SOX audit controls and governance standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors by preparing documentation, addressing queries, and implementing recommendations.
  • Maintain accuracy in accrued and deferred income accounts, ensuring robust revenue recognition processes.
  • Assist in developing budgets and forecasts, providing insightful variance analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and payable processes, ensuring timely billing, collections, and payments to optimise cash flow.
  • Continuously enhance financial processes and leverage tools like SAP or Maconomy to drive efficiency and accuracy.

Experience That Contributes To Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, SOX compliance, and experience managing audits.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems such as SAP, SAGE, or Maconomy is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across all levels of the organisation and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
