Our Travelstart team is looking for an IT Support Technician with 2-3 years of general IT support exposure to join our dynamic Tech Team. This role is responsible for supporting and maintaining the organisation’s IT systems, assisting users, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to infrastructure and project-related work. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in IT support, exposure to core systems, and a strong customer service approach, with a willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment.

(This role is based in Cape Town.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation and configuration of hardware, software, networks, printers, and scanners.
  • Monitor systems, perform basic updates, and check for security or performance issues.
  • Provide first- and second-line support to end users (remote and onsite).
  • Log, track, and document technical issues via the IT ticketing system.
  • Help train users on IT tools, platforms, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and escalate faulty IT equipment.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes (device setup, accounts, permissions).
  • Follow and support IT policies, procedures, and security standards.
  • Maintain basic IT asset inventory and assist with procurement processes.
  • Participate in user testing and internal IT projects.
  • Collaborate with the wider Tech Team across offices.
  • Assist with server-related tasks under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Escalate unresolved issues for advanced troubleshooting.

Required Skills And Experience

  • Exposure to Windows Server environments (2016/2019) and basic server administration tasks. Exposure to supporting mail platforms such as Office 365 and/or Google Workspace.
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory concepts, such as user, group, and permission management.
  • Exposure to endpoint security tools and general IT security practices.
  • Basic knowledge or interest in cloud platforms or virtualization technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware) is an advantage.
  • Good diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time, multitask, and work well independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA A+, N+, or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Fundamentals (e.g., AZ-900, MS-900).
  • Google IT Support or AWS Cloud Practitioner.
  • Basic networking certifications (e.g., Cisco CCST, Fortinet NSE1–2).
