Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree; and
• Certificate in Adult Language Teaching (CELTA, TEFL, TESOL)

Experience:

• 2 years’ appropriate teaching experience

Skills:

• ability to plan, prepare and deliver creative and productive lessons at a range of levels;
• ability to encourage students to actively participate throughout course;
• ability to teach specialised courses such as those designed for corporate groups or private individuals;
• ability to assess, continuously monitor and guide student progress;
• ability to select/adapt/develop appropriate resource materials in a range of media, including print and electronic;
• demonstrable proficiency in the use of educational technology in the classroom;
• demonstrable knowledge of MS Word and Excel; and
• excellent written and verbal communication skills

Personal attributes:

• well-developed organizational skills and the ability to maintain composure under pressure;
• initiative and the ability to work independently without close supervision;
• ability to set high standards of performance and successfully complete tasks;
• ability to develop and maintain productive student/client and staff relationships;
• is able to promote a respectful working environment

Other requirements:

• must be a mother-tongue speaker of the language of tuition;
• must be willing to work on Saturdays (this is dependent on the course);
• must be willing to work on evenings (this is dependent on the course);
• must be willing to travel to corporate clients (this is dependent on the course);
• must have a driver’s licence; and
• must have a valid work permit (if you are not a South African citizen)
