Job Description To autonomously handle data preparation and conduct basic to intermediate analyses, while executing complex analyses under supervision. Managing independent projects, providing mentorship to junior colleagues, and effectively communicating with stakeholders, including delivering presentations to management committees and executive teams Hello Future Actuarial Specialist We are currently recruiting for an Actuarial Specialist within the second line actuarial team for FNB Life. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the internal second line actuarial function The incumbent will gain exposure to a wide range of Actuarial topics such as experience investigations, pricing, reserving, capital calculations. The role will give a good overall view of the workings of a life company and is ideal for someone with ambition to obtain a practising certificate
Roles and responsibilities:
  • Review of technical provisions, minimum capital requirements and solvency capital requirements
  • Technical challenge of assumptions, pricing and valuations
  • Review of compliance with Prudential Standards and advise business on how standards apply for new products
  • Model validation of pricing and reserving models (both Excel and Prophet models)
  • Challenge and review of Actuarial models
  • Develop proxy models to validate results
  • Produce Actuarial reports for internal and Board committees
  • Ad hoc research on Actuarial developments

You will be an ideal candidate if you:
  • Have an Actuarial Science degree
  • Have completed at least all A100 and A200 exams
  • Have 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Have experience with Prophet, SAS and SQL
  • Are comfortable with data (tables, monitoring, analysis etc)
