Job Discription

  • Grade 11 or equivalent qualifications
  • Current registration with HPCSA as Basic life support and intermediate life support.
  • Must have a valid Code 8 or 10 driver’s license, and PrDP, non-negotiable.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience post qualification.
  • Two years mining experience will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to perform and remain calm under high pressure situations.
  • Excellent telephonic/radio communication skills.
  • Fluent in English. Any additional languages will be advantageous.
  • Two years mining experience will be advantageous.
  • Must be PC literate – basic word, excel and e-mail
  • South African Citizenship
  • Clear Criminal Record
  • Declared medically fit by our OMP

Key Performance Areas:

  • Efficient handling of and response to emergency calls as per company policy.
  • Retrieving injured employees underground in case of emergency
  • Maintain operational readiness of emergency vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with patients, colleagues, and other emergency services.
  • Responding timeously to all call outs.
  • Assessing health status of persons involved in accidents, natural disasters and other emergency situations.
  • Efficient and effective management of emergency medical and trauma calls as per company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Recording information on patient’s conditions and treatment on Patient Report Form (PRF) in accordance with guidelines published by HPCSA.
  • Responsible driving of emergency vehicles in accordance with company policy and National Road Traffic Act.
  • Safe operating of company vehicles and equipment as per company policies and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain in area of responsibility following mine standards, procedures and practices
  • Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely”
