DEPARTMENT : Supply Chain - Hammarsdale DC

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide SHEQ expertise, guidance and support by developing programmes, policies, and procedures to prevent and control any hazards or injuries. Coordinate and improve SHEQ performance reports and administer systems. Provide support to the Site managers and Regional Risk Managers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all incidents relevant to SHEQ are reported, investigated, corrected and learnings disseminated.

  • Ensure that all relevant environmental authorizations operating licenses/permits are applied for and are up-to-date and compliance to conditions is monitored.

  • Ensure the company is compliant with all applicable SHEQ legislation and other requirements to which the company subscribes.

  • Monitor SHEQ performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.

  • Ensure that all legal appointments are in place in terms of applicable legislation.

  • Continuous improvement for Projects for Distribution Centre relating to quality, safety, health, and environmental.

  • Develop and maintain the occupational health management and monitoring programme.

  • Manage all SHEQ site surveys, audits and assessments.

  • Drive the culture of quality, health, safety and environment by raising awareness of SHEQ throughout the site through various initiatives, communication plans and training.

  • Manage all SHEQ related training requirements.

  • Assess the site current sustainability performance, identify and prioritize the site key sustainability strategies, i.e., drive energy efficiencies, resource recovery, reduce waste and increase efficiencies, carbon footprints, etc.

  • Responsible for developing adequate plans / controls to prevent pollution, respond to emergencies and ensure business continuity.

  • Ensure compliance with system and operational protocols, policies, and procedures at site

  • The ongoing Review of the Compliance for implementation of/and compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as means to ensure operational excellence.

  • Provide detailed audit reports with findings. Identify non-conformities and provide corrective action measures to prevent re-occurrence.

  • Monitor and review those corrective measures that have been implemented.

  • Ensure adherence and identify exceptions of compliance from the DC Balance Scorecards with intent of reaching set targets agreed by DC Leadership

  • Maintain and enhance internal and external customer relations

  • Need to Liaise with the Central Office E-Team on all Initiatives throughout the business and accurately reporting on the reduction of the carbon footprint

  • Provide SHEQ improvement proposals, proposed corrective action, required resources for corrective action and plan of implementation on NCRs issued.


JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 year Tertiary Qualification in related fields

  • SAMTRAC (Basic)

  • 3+ Years as SHEQ Officer

  • Experience in implementation of ISO 9001-2015 & ISO 45001

  • Extensive knowledge of ISO 9001:2015

  • Proficient computer skills, G-Suite/Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills to convey information in reports, meetings, and status reports.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Analysis, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to handle a stressful and fast paced environment.

  • Ample experience in implementing corrective/preventive measures.
