SHAFT FOREMAN

SHAFT FOREMAN X1 (GRADING C4)

Qualifying Criteria:

• Grade 11 or equivalent qualifications
• Valid Onsetter/Banksman Certificate
• Valid Blasting certificate for Scheduled Mines
• Valid Foreman or Shift Supervisor Certificate
  
• Minimum 5 years working experience in shaft operations in an underground mining environment
  
• Strong leadership, communication and planning skills
• Knowledge of relevant mining legislation and health and safety standards
• English language proficiency
• First Aid certificate
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• South African Citizenship
• Clear Criminal Record

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate daily shaft activities, including hoisting, maintenance and shaft inspections
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations and mine standards (MHSA, ISO, etc)
• Supervise and lead shaft crews, ensuring high performance and discipline
• Conduct risk assessments and implement preventative measures
• Manage equipment, materials and resources required for shaft operations
• Liaise with engineering, production, and safety teams for operational alignment
• Report on shaft performance, incidents, and maintenance needs
• Slinging of material.
• Conduct all work according to required standards and specifications
• Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1 Group’s safety motto : “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely”
