Job Purpose

The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent and suitably qualified individual to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial reporting by managing the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, overseeing financial systems and processes, and leading a team within the Financial Reporting unit.

Minimum Requirements

An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Financial Management; A minimum of 3 years relevant supervisory experience.

Recommendation

A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.

Key Performance Areas

Monitoring and compiling of financial reports; Overall assessment and compilation of the Interim and Annual financial statements; Conduct appropriate system maintenance and monitoring and perform month/year-end closure in compliance with the guidelines issued by National and Provincial Treasury; Managing the pre-audit process; Management of staff.

Competencies

Knowledge of the following: Public Finance Management Act;The Treasury Regulations and Finance Instructions; Transversal public sector accounting systems.

Skills needed: Computer literacy in MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email); Written and verbal communication; People Management; Research; Presentation.

Remuneration

R 468 459 - R 561 894 per annum (Salary level 9)

Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Notes

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting.
