Job Advert Summary

Moore Durban is seeking an experienced and driven Audit Supervisor to join our team. This role is pivotal in managing client portfolios, overseeing audit engagements, and mentoring SAICA trainee accountants. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining our high standards of service delivery across a diverse client base and ensure the department's day-to-day operations align with our strategic objectives.

Minimum Requirements

Professional Qualifications:

  • Registered CA(SA)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting or related post-graduate degree.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years post-articles experience in audit.
  • Proficient in the preparation and review of financial statements under IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage 2-3 audits simultaneously.
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office, CaseWare, and other relevant audit software.
  • Previous exposure to audits of group companies and preparation of consolidated financial statements (advantageous).
  • Prior experience working with medium to large private equity clients (advantageous).

Technical Competencies:

  • Sound knowledge of International Standards on Auditing (ISA).
  • Ability to implement quality control procedures and audit methodologies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.

Duties and Responsibilities

Audit Supervision and Client Service

  • Plan, execute, and finalise audit engagements in accordance with auditing standards and firm methodologies.
  • Supervise multiple engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, and high-quality outcomes.
  • Review working papers and annual financial statements, including consolidated financial statements in line with IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships through regular communication and prompt resolution of audit queries.
  • Ensure all audits comply with statutory regulations and internal risk management procedures.

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Mentor and supervise SAICA trainee accountants, providing on-the-job training and performance feedback.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and monitor the quality and efficiency of audit team members’ output.
  • Ensure a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Quality Control and Technical Support

  • Implement and monitor quality control standards across all audit engagements.
  • Provide technical guidance to audit teams regarding audit issues and accounting standards.
  • Stay updated with relevant changes in accounting and auditing standards and ensure proper implementation.

Practice Development and Operational Support

  • Collaborate with department managers on client portfolio management and engagement planning.
  • Contribute to operational improvements and best practices within the audit department.
  • Support business development efforts through participation in proposals and presentations when required.
