Job Summary

A Quality & EHS role is available at one of the world’s leading fragrance and flavor companies. This position is one that offers a collaborative work environment, experience in a fast-paced industry, and a chance to impact both new and established fragrance brands.

We are looking for a teammate to ensure that we have proper quality and EHS systems, quality control program & continual improvement program to guarantee our process of manufacture, our product quality and our people heath and safety to meet IFF corporate requirements, customer expectations & local regulations.

Scope:

The Quality and EHS Manager is accountable for QC and EHS management in Midrand Plant. This role is also required to perform duties as allocated by Regional EHS and Quality Director & Plant Operations Manager and aligned with global EHS and Quality responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

EHS management

  • Establish, implement, and maintain plant occupational health and safety procedures & policy to keep employees’ health and plant safety.
  • Lead plant safety improvement to build a safer working environment for employees.

Quality Analysis

  • Manage quality lab to ensure all relevant properties (sensory, chemical, and physical) of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products in accordance with legislation and technical requirements.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain quality policy and procedures to manage product quality & process quality on quality KPIs
  • Lead continuous improvement of quality and process in collaboration with Manufacturing and Technology.

Quality and EHS systems and corporate compliance

  • Ensure quality of products & process by implementing ISO 9001 and corporate requirements.
  • Manage quality audits from third party, customer, and government.
  • Setup internal audit system

People & Team Management

  • Manage QC/EHS team by coordinating goals setting for direct reports, regularly coaching, and supervising their activities, and evaluating their performance.
  • Continuously improve capability of quality team by setting up and implementing personal development plan.
  • Ensure proper planning and monitoring of the department’s expense within budget.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor or college degree and above in chemical, chemistry, or food science.
  • Good sensory evaluation skill or potential on Scent ingredient and compounds is top priority.
  • Good knowledge in computer software application, such as word, excel, ppt, etc.
  • Be capable of managing people occupational health meet local regulations.
  • Familiar with local safety and regulatory policies to ensure the plant has no nonconformance.
  • Professional in chemical analysis, including chromatography, titration, density, refraction index, Karl Fisher water analysis etc.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to coordinate with other functional teams.
  • Good team player.

Preferred

  • Experience in SAP or similar system application
  • Knowledge on GMP, 5S, ILVT and gold working rules
  • Good understand of ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and ISO 22716

Preferred Experience:

  • At least 5 years QA/QC or EHS experience in Flavors / Fragrances or chemical industry and 2 years’ experience of people management.
