The organisation is seeking to enhance tax compliance and efficiency and is committed to ensuring robust tax governance, timely reporting, and proactive management of tax risks across its operations.
The client is seeking an experienced Tax Specialist to provide strategic and operational support on clearing a backlog of tax matters. The role involves acting as a business partner to local finance teams, offering guidance on quarterly tax reporting, managing tax disputes, and supporting the development of local transfer pricing documentation. The specialist will collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, external advisors, and government tax authorities to ensure regulatory compliance, tax planning, and issue resolution.
This is a remote role requiring business-level fluency in French and English, with a preference for candidates based in one of the client’s operating countries for logistical ease.

Role and Responsibilities
Role: Regional Tax Specialist
Direct Report: Head of Tax

Key Deliverables:
- Provide guidance and support for quarterly tax reporting, including deferred tax calculations
- Assist country teams with tax audits and disputes, including development of tax exposure registers
- Develop and finalise transfer pricing documentation for multiple jurisdictions, aligned with local tax audit requirements
- Maintain detailed tax registers for uncertain tax positions
- Collaborate with internal teams and external tax advisors to optimize compliance and efficiency
- Coach local finance teams on tax best practices and regulatory updates
- Deliver timely, accurate, and complete tax submissions.
Experience Required:
- 5+ years in a dedicated tax role, with proven expertise in:
- Deferred tax (calculations, reporting, compliance)
- Tax disputes (audit support, controversy management, exposure registers)
- Transfer pricing (documentation, local file preparation, audit defence)
- Multinational exposure: Prior work in African or emerging markets is ideal, but broader international experience is acceptable if adaptable
- Cross-industry flexibility: Candidates with experience across multiple industries (e.g., energy, manufacturing, retail or other sectors) are preferred, demonstrating ability to navigate diverse tax regimes.
Technical Requirements:
- Accounting degree with a focus in taxation; postgraduate qualifications in tax are an advantage
- Strong working knowledge of international tax laws, tax compliance systems, and dispute resolution strategies
- Familiarity with tax compliance tools e.g., TaxBack, SAP, Oracle BI, or similar ERP systems preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Business-level fluency in French and English (written and spoken).
- Autonomous, with ability to resolve complex tax issues independently
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural collaboration skills
- Effective communicator in both English and French
- Deadline-driven, with experience managing competing priorities in fast-paced environments
- Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret complex tax laws and translate financial risks into actionable strategies.
