Mr D, a division of takealot.com, is looking for a highly talented Junior Product Manager (Retail and Shops) to join our team in Cape Town.
The Product team at Mr D is passionate about creating experiences that satisfy & delight our customers, while ensuring we continuously acquire and retain customers to exceed our growth objectives. You will work cross-functionally across our product, UX, engineering and other business teams to build features that have a direct impact on the growth of Mr D.
As a Junior Product Manager, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable gains across key business metrics by combining speed, analytical insight, and test-driven product development. You will be essential in driving growth at each stage of the product lifecycle: acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, and monetization.
This position reports to the Retail and Shops Product Lead.

This position reports to the Retail and Shops Product Lead.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
Product development
- Take end-to-end ownership of product development including documentation, implementation, testing, launch, and success metric monitoring
- Facilitate backlog grooming and planning ceremonies
- Clarify project requirements and create acceptance criteria with QA.
- Determine what data needs to be gathered to inform decision making around product requirements
- Gather and use quantitative and qualitative data to help formulate product requirements
- Extract key insights from data for post launch impact analysis
- Understand the product vision and strategy
- Contribute to the roadmap to execute on the product strategy
- Suggest ideas to solve customer challenges and validate them in close collaboration with UX
- Clearly communicate requirements to UX/UI design resources
- Work with design resources to finalise the customer experience for a particular feature
- Ensure relevant stakeholders for a project are correctly identified and consulted
- Have a deep understanding of core stakeholder pain-points / objectives related to a project
- Manage relationships with stakeholders, related to a specific project(s), including obtaining senior stakeholder buy-in for requirements and relevant project status communications
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Experience presenting to stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience working with relevant data analytics tools (e.g. Excel, SQL)
- Experience working with wireframing tools preferable
- Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in a related field
- 3 years business analysis experience or exposure (through projects or responsibilities)
- 1 year product management experience or exposure (through projects or responsibilities)
- Experience with product analytics tools such as Firebase, Google Analytics or Amplitude would be beneficial.
- Experience with Invision, Balsamiq, Sketch or similar tools for wireframing/designing solutions.
- High level of proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Google Suite, JIRA, Slack, and comfortable with learning new applications as required.
