As a Head of Consultancy Service - South Africa at Snap, building on your wealth of experience, you’ll have the opportunity to build a world class team of data experts and work with the latest technologies within analytics; from ETL and modern cloud data platforms, to BI and AI tools.

As well as working closely to oversee success in a key strategic accounts in South Africa and overseas, you will be responsible for working with local partners and central recruitment teams to identify, recruit and develop the best talent in the region. You’ll also be key to creating the office culture in line with Snap’s values and supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.

What you'll be doing...

Key Strategic Accounts

  • You will be responsible for managing key strategic accounts in the region and ensuring that Snap’s team are delivering high quality work.
  • Building relationships with key clients stakeholders and identifying opportunities where Snap can offer additional services to clients including support, AI/ML opportunities etc. You will work closely with the Commercial Team at Snap to turn these opportunities into new revenue.

Building The Team

  • Helping to identify and onboard local team members in the new South Africa capability. Role will include Data Architects, Data Engineers, AI Consultants and Data Viz Consultants.
  • You will work with the capability leads in the UK the ensure hiring and training is in line with processes in the UK, whilst also being aligned with the South African culture
  • You will roll out the established ‘Snap Academy’ to graduates in and around Cape Town and support in recruiting, retaining and training the very best young talent in Data and AI.

Establishing The Local Office and Culture

  • Support with identifying and setting up the local office in Cape Town.
  • Helping to create an office culture when people ‘want to be’ rather than ‘need’ to be and ensuring that the team build strong relationships and collaborate well.

Thought Leadership

  • Help the local team to create content, share insights and become thought leaders in their respective fields, whether that’s a specific vertical or technology.

Mentorship & Leadership

  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and best practices to elevate the overall team performance.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering, cloud platforms, and big data to propose innovative solutions for clients' evolving data needs.

What you'll need to succeed...

  • Proven experience (10+ years) as a data consultant with a focus on data migration, integration and cloud-based data warehousing working with big data for enterprise organisations.
  • 10+ years of experience of ETL/ELT design and development using tools like Matillion, Informatica, SAP Data Services, Talend and Cloud Data Platforms including Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift or BigQuery.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and hands on experience with cloud data warehouses including Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift or BigQuery..
  • A deep understanding of data modelling principles and techniques (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema), and experience in developing optimized models to support analytics and reporting.
  • Expertise in managing teams and a passion for mentoring junior team members.
  • Experience establishing a new consultancy practice or division and establishing a strong culture of innovation, teamwork and trust.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
