Are you someone who can:
- Lead and execute the fraud strategy across Invest and Broader Africa markets in alignment with the Group’s risk appetite and governance framework.
- Establish and monitor fraud loss thresholds and product-specific tolerances; ensure appropriate control measures are embedded and enforced.
- Develop annual fraud risk objectives, ensure fraud risk indicators and trend analytics are actively used to drive data-informed strategies.
- Manage operational budgets across fraud units, balancing cost efficiency with effectiveness of interventions.
- Champion a customer-first approach, ensuring fraud-related interactions are handled with urgency, innovation and care.
- Oversee the resolution of escalated fraud-related complaints and proactively identify emerging customer experience concerns.
- Build and sustain robust partnerships with regulators, industry peers, and law enforcement bodies to enhance fraud response capabilities.
- Contribute to industry forums and internal specialist practice groups to disseminate insights, intelligence, and best practice.
- Drive enterprise-wide fraud monitoring, detection and response strategies using technology, analytics, and collaboration across teams.
- Ensure continuity and availability of critical fraud detection systems and tools, including the development of adaptable rulesets and controls.
- Coordinate root cause analysis of fraud events and oversee systemic recommendations that support regulatory compliance and future mitigation.
- Integrate fraud intelligence into broader risk management and control practices, enhancing the organization’s fraud resilience.
- Lead incident response protocols including decisions on arrests and court representation, maintaining integrity and reputation of the Bank.
- Provide thought leadership and mentorship across the fraud teams, actively developing skills and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Deliver high-quality reporting to executive stakeholders, summarizing fraud trends, emerging risks, and mitigation outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Forensics, Finance, Law, or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
- 10+ years’ experience in fraud risk management, with at least 5 in a senior/executive leadership role.
- Proven knowledge of African banking markets and regulatory environments.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing fraud strategies across diverse geographies and product portfolios.
- Strong familiarity with digital banking threats, fraud detection systems, and emerging risk technologies.
- Legal knowledge in prosecution processes and evidence handling is advantageous.
- Strategic thinking with deep analytical capability and solution orientation.
- Strong leadership and team development abilities.
- Resilience and agility in crisis or incident response situations.
- Effective communication with internal stakeholders and external enforcement partners.
- Excellent report writing, insight extraction, and presentation skills.
- Deep knowledge of regulatory standards and industry fraud frameworks.
