Corrections Victoria's purpose is to deliver an effective corrections system for a safe community. Community Correctional Services (CCS), is overseen by Corrections Victoria, a division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.

About The Role

The Recreation Officer is part of the Reintegration Services Team. Reporting to the Reintegration Services Supervisor, the Recreation Officer is responsible for the coordination and delivery of a wide range of recreational programs and activities, both passive and active within the location.

The Recreation Officer works within a team environment to optimise the opportunities for prisoners to enhance their life skills and personal development through all aspects of the day-to-day routines, services, and programs of the facility.

Some Of Your Other Duties Will Include

  • Maintaining recreation equipment and supplies in a manner that is compliant with occupational health and safety standards and the constraints of the public private partnership (PPP).
  • Completing compliance documentation and ensure all activities align with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducting patrols, searches, and security related activities ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in and a good understanding of identifying the needs of people experiencing barriers to participation.
  • Experience in facilitating/coordinating sporting and recreational activities.
  • An understanding of the correctional environment is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent qualification is desirable.
