This includes conducting stock research, executing trades, handling client administration tasks, preparing investment proposals and reports, and assisting Portfolio Managers in delivering high-quality service to advisors and clients. The role is designed to build foundational skills in investment management while contributing meaningfully to team outputs Job Description 1. Investment Research & Stock Coverage
  • Conduct research on JSE, offshore-listed equities and ETFs.
  • Support Portfolio Managers with stock coverage and idea generation.
  • Attend weekly investment committee meetings and contribute to discussions as appropriate.
2. Trading & Execution
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of trade instructions across various portfolios.
  • Monitor trade confirmations and ensure accurate implementation.
  • Assist in rebalancing portfolios to align with asset allocation conformance guidelines.
3. Client Administration & Reporting
  • Coordinate onboarding of new client mandates, working closely with RMS team.
  • Assist with mandate changes, client queries, and account updates.
  • Prepare client review packs, client presentations, and investment reports.
4. Proposal Preparation & Business Support
  • Draft investment proposals tailored to client objectives and constraints.
  • Support PMs with ad hoc projects and business development.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Investment Management, Economics, or related field.
  • Progress toward or completion of CFA (Level I or higher) or similar investment-related designation is advantageous.
Experience:
  • 1–3 years of experience in an investment, financial advisory, or asset management environment.
  • Exposure to discretionary portfolio management, equity or fund research, or financial markets.
  • Experience working with financial data, trade modelling systems, investment platforms, or CRM systems.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Investment Knowledge: Understanding of basic investment principles, asset classes, and portfolio construction concepts.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical abilities; able to interpret financial statements and market data.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly organised and thorough, especially when working with trades, client information, and investment reports.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Comfortable working with financial modelling and portfolio management systems.
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication; able to prepare professional proposals and client-ready materials.
  • Time Management: Able to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Orientation: Collaborative attitude with a willingness to learn from senior team members and contribute to shared outcomes.
  • Client-Centric Mindset: Professional, service-oriented approach with a strong commitment to client outcomes and relationship management.
