MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB


The Inventory Manager will oversee and manage inventory levels across GALXBOY main distribution centre, retail and online outlets, ensuring optimal stock availability, accuracy, and control to meet customer demand while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory. The incumbent will also be responsible for overseeing and optimising inventory processes within a retail environment to ensure accurate stock levels, timely replenishment, and efficient inventory control.


KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY


Inventory Accuracy & Control

  • Oversee warehouse activities such as receiving and storing goods, managing inventory levels, ensuring the efficient delivery of goods managing, evaluating and reporting on inventory movement and availability.
  • Tracking the receipt, storage, and movement of inventory throughout the organisation.
  • Ensure that accurate inventory records are kept and that company procedures for inventory are maintained

Stock Management

  • Coordinate cycle counts throughout the organisation and ensure variances are followed up and resolved.
  • Audit and improve current processes and implement initiatives.
  • Provide regular Stockout rate (percentage of SKUs out of stock when needed) reports
  • Oversee that Replenishment is done accurately (correct items and quantities delivered).
  • Report stock variances and adjustments regularly.

Inventory Turnover & Optimisation

  • Days of inventory on hand – Target: Balanced to avoid overstock and stockouts
  • Analyse historical sales data and current trends to forecast demand accurately.
  • Collaborate sales teams to align inventory plans with business goals and seasonal demands.
  • Set and maintain accurate reorder points and safety stock levels based on sales trends, seasonality, and lead times.
  • Collaborate with E-commerce and retail to align replenishment with promotional activity, new product launches, and demand spikes.
  • Investigate and resolve stockout issues, delivery delays, or inventory gaps.

Drive operational efficiency and compliance

  • Implement best practices in inventory control and warehouse management.

Perform administration & reporting activities

  • Provide real-time stock movement reports and productivity tracking.
  • Maintain accurate audit trails and compliance records.
  • Develop and share performance reports on total business and categories on major KPIs.
  • Prepare monthly stock readiness reports.

SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • BCom in Logistics, or Diploma in Supply Chain Management / Logistics or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 – 4 years in a similar role.
  • Microsoft Suit (Excel, word, Email)
  • Proficiency with inventory and warehouse management systems (WMS system and Pulpo).
  • Automate reorder processes and generate system-based inventory reports.
  • Audit existing processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement lean inventory practices.
  • Attention to Detail – For maintaining inventory accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Problem Solving – For handling discrepancies, delays, and process inefficiencies.
  • Time Management – To manage daily tasks, reporting cycles, and staff oversight efficiently.
  • Adaptability – To adjust processes and strategies in response to market trends or internal changes.
