About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Employee Communications to lead RBM’s internal communications and employee engagement activities in support of RBM`s Strategic objectives driven by the mine`s Senior Leadership team (SLT) and other functions including HR with a strong focus on delivering increased employee engagement resulting in improved safety, productivity, and partnership outcomes.

The incumbent will be responsible is developing and implanting of the integrated internal comm and employee engagement plan which forms part of Communications 5-year strategy.

Reporting to the Manager Communications you will be responsible for the following

  • Proven ability to work across the team, remove silos and collaborate with a strong focus on behaviours.
  • build and maintain trusted relationships to deliver for the business
  • Need to deliver all activity in alignment with overall Employee Engagement activity led by the HR function.
  • high level of collaboration and communication across the Group to ensure alignment with Rio Tinto policies and overall Employee Communications and Partner to Operate approach.
  • May need to manage relationships with external vendors such as RBM`s Communications Agency, digital or creative agencies.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of the RBM brand through the management of team performance and contribution to high-profile and relationship-building activities
  • Ensure that the business is aware of industry Communication and PR standards and approaches as well as integrate their needs into the planning.
  • To support the Global Minerals Employee Engagement plan through alignment with the global communications team

About You

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have

  • Degree in Communications /Marketing /Journalism /Public Relations
  • Certificate in DTP (Desk Top Publishing) will be an added advantage
  • Digital Marketing knowledge will be an added advantage
  • South African driver’s license (with own car)
  • Atleast 5 -10 years’ experience in a communications role with an internal focus
  • Understanding of the heavy industry will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrated experience in employee communications and creative and brand work.
  • Understanding of the business approach to Employee Communications within the PtO framework.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (Copyright).
  • Proficiency in iSizulu is essential
