Reporting to the Compliance Director

Position Purpose

The Regional Compliance Manager is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Compliance Program across SMEC Regional Africa.

Key Activities

  • Significantly contribute to the development and implementation of the Compliance Program by draft policies, procedures and processes.
  • Brief stakeholders on the impact of new or amended Compliance requirements; Monitor project timelines, prepare file notes and presentations.
  • Perform best practices and industry practice research relevant to support compliance program.
  • Provide regional perspective on compliance
  • The development and implementation of the Compliance Program is delivered by set deadlines; Stakeholders are aware of compliance updates and expectations.
  • Manage compliance activities prescribed in the Compliance Program (e.g. COI, GHE, Modern Slavery) , including review and responding to entries in the Compliance portal or emails.
  • Manages regular review of business partner due diligence activities.
  • Coordinate and manage the ISO certification program.
  • Coordinate and manage the risk registers prescribed in the Compliance Program Participate in investigations as they arise.
  • Manage the development and delivery of compliance training and communication across SMEC.
  • Coordinate logistical requirements for all Compliance training programs including training materials and invitations to training sessions; Prepare training materials and PowerPoint slides.
  • Develop and maintain client focus and relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide high level customer service through the delivery of innovative and timely solutions.
  • Provide clear and effective communication and consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Clarify issues and needs of internal clients and stakeholders to enable the development of suitable solutions that meet business needs.
  • Adopt a collaborative approach by listening to and valuing other’s contributions and recognise when it is appropriate to seek assistance.

Experience And Qualifications

  • Degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Operate with experience in an Engineering Consulting environment within project management and delivery processes.
  • Have working knowledge and experience in implementing and maintaining certified management systems.
  • Understanding of commercial business drivers.
  • Sound knowledge of management systems.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant ISO, AS/NZS standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite and SharePoint
