Job Purpose

Bidvest International Logistics is a leading global transport and logistics company, whose partnership with EMO Trans, provides access to an international network of 250 offices in over 120 countries.

We are looking to recruit a knowledgeable and highly experienced Senior Entries Clerk with a good understanding of the Customs Act with specific emphasis on Customs Valuation and manage the utilisation of team members and service delivery through continuous communication.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric
  • Customs Affairs Course or equivalent
  • Computer literacy, i.e: Microsoft office suite, operating systems that generate Customs Bills of Entries
  • At least 5 years experience in Entries framing at a senior level for Automotive Clients

- 2 - 5 years of Electronic Bond Store management experience will be an advantage

Key Responsibilities

  • Frame all types of bill of Entries, in particular Ex-bonds, Road Exports and Exports
  • Assist Clients with Customs technical issues
  • Manage EDI messaging to and from Customs and send to Clients
  • Cooperate with other departments and third parties to ensure operational effectiveness
  • To identify high risk areas and implement strategies to reduce such risk
  • Supervising the maintenance and updating for the Cargowise product database
  • Assist with Clients Customs queries
  • Run the Acquittal (Code 8) reports every Monday morning; forward list of outstandings to the
Controllers and follow up with Controllers to provide comment on the outstandings
  • Weekly feedback meetings with Automotive Manager and Customs Specialist
  • Quality control of all types customs declarations (prime and adjustments documents)
  • Good management of risk processes
  • Client queries are addressed and resolved without delay
  • Limit write off's and ensure the appropriate corrective actions are put in place to prevent repeat errors
  • Adherence to Customs legislation and compliance
  • Support and train colleagues as required to ensure reliable, consistent service to our Client base
