-We have an exciting position for an Operator Shift Control Room to ensure the safety and security of mine premises by monitoring CCTV cameras, computerised burglar and fire alarm systems, and guard patrol monitoring systems, initiating the appropriate responses to suspicious activities and alarm activations.

In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description
-As Operator Shift Control Room you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Safety, Health, and Environment

• Adhere to all health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
• Active participation in safety initiatives, i.e., SLAM and HPH.
• Conduct the required safety interventions before undertaking any tasks.
• Maintain a clear working area, ensure legibility and visibility of safety signs, attend to spillage, and record actions.

Performance and Delivery

• Monitor CCTV cameras and initiate appropriate response to suspicious activities.
• Monitor computerised burglar and fire alarm systems and initiate appropriate responses to alarm activations.
• Monitor guard patrol monitoring systems and alert shift supervisors on any deviations.
• Update the computer-based incident logging system and generate the reports.
• Operate the 24/7 emergency number and initiate appropriate response to emergencies.
• Operate remote-controlled gate control systems.
• Operate all radio communication systems.
• Perform administration duties relating to a control room environment.
• Send an SMS to SLT or RLT in case of emergency or incidents in the mine.
• Capture all incidents and dockets online for record purposes.

Outputs :

• Suspicious activity detected via CCTV and appropriate response initiated.
• Alarm alerts are logged, and emergency service responders are dispatched within 3 minutes after receiving the alarm.
• Security supervisory and management personnel dispatched upon detection of patrol deviations.
• Updated incident logging system with accurate information and escalated reports to relevant line managers.
• All gate openings are recorded on the incident logging system.
• Emergency telephones were answered within 30 seconds, and emergency response services were dispatched after obtaining the required information.
Radio systems are fully operational, with hourly radio checks on all staffed security posts and vehicles

This role is in the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) at a Band S4 level reporting to the Security Operations Supervisor.

• -Grade 12/N3
• Completion of a formal Control Room Operators course.
• Registered as a Security Officer Grade B with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority.
• Advanced CCTV Surveillance Body Language ( Advantegous )
• SA Driver’s License

Experience

• 2-3 years of relevant experience in safety/security in a control room setup, preferably in a mining environment.
• Practical experience in computerised access control, burglar alarm, incident logging, CCTV, and guard monitoring systems.
• Knowledge of incident logging, CCTV, and guard monitoring systems
