Role Purpose

Assist the Project Management Office (PMO) in the management of the overall delivery of various initiatives, through identifying and planning of work items, the coordination of schedules, tracking the progress and reporting the results. This is all with the aim to meet the stated business strategy, objectives and benefits, in compliance with all relevant Governance, Risk and Audit requirements.

Qualifications

  • Relevant B-degree or Diploma (essential)
  • Relevant Project Management Qualification (essential)

Experience

  • 3-5 years experience in a dedicated project management position (essential)
  • Insurance industry experience (desirable).

Knowledge

  • Microsoft Office (essential)
  • Knowledge of relevant Project Management software and tools (essential)
  • Knowledge of Project Management lifecycle, from conception to close-out (essential)
  • Knowledge of agile methodology (essential)
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) (essential)
  • Knowledge of products administered by the business unit will be an advantage (desirable)

INTERNAL PROCESS

  • With the support of the product owner, sponsor and/or portfolio manager, contribute to development of the business case (lean canvas) documents demonstrating the feasibility and importance of the work.
  • Develop the scope document (with the contribution of the product owner, sponsor, team and other stakeholders) to clarify the following:
  • contribution to business strategy and/or business outcomes,
  • contribution to delivery team’s vision and purpose,
  • identifying who matters and the value we will provide to them,
  • objectives,
  • delivery items,
  • exclusions,
  • measurable success criteria,
  • dependencies and
  • risks (with management and/or mitigation strategies).
  • Articulate, with the contribution of the stakeholders, a delivery approach / plan for successfully executing the identified delivery items in a timeous manner, that ensures frequent value across the value chain
  • Ensures that there is visibility and context - internally for the team, but also to the wider business - around the work that the team:
  • is doing, and
  • needs to do (backlog)
  • Coordinate and facilitate agile interactions and feedback loops, such as daily stand-up, planning or team meetings.
  • Support and coach the team in continues improvement in the way they show up and how they deliver
  • Enable the team to create delivery metrics and track progress towards these agreed measures that become a basis of the team’s delivery predictability
  • Compile delivery reports as required to enable the product owner and sponsor to report at various forums
  • Compile agile delivery reports for the team (e.g. velocity/burndown, defects, blockers)
  • Provide the team with execution metrics / data / insights for appropriate decision making
  • Enable the team to execute as per team agreements; facilitate conversations to support the team to best be able to remain within these delivery agreements and provide support and direction when complexities or distractions arise that might negatively impact delivery.
  • Keep record of decisions, actions and issues
  • Facilitate the closure of the work that includes recording acceptance of the delivery, identification of what was not delivered and the decisions around how these will be managed.

  • Deliver on service level agreements made with clients and internal and external stakeholders to ensure that client expectations are managed.
