Position Overview
We are looking for a Technical Engineer to join our Security & Networks team in Cape Town.
In this role, you will assume the function of a remote IT systems administrator for a wide range of clients who have outsourced their IT support to Advania. You will have the opportunity to undertake duties such as monitoring and managing a client's infrastructure as well as back-ups, routers, firewalls, servers, and device endpoints. Resolving issues efficiently with minimal impact on the client is what this role is all about.

The budgeted salary for this role is between 20,000 to 25,000 ZAR monthly, depending on experience. There is an additional shift allowance available on top of this of approximately 5,000 ZAR monthly.
Hybrid Working

Responsibilities
Some of your duties will include:
- Delivering of quality proactive managed services across our client base
- Network Operations Centre (NOC) – Triage of P1, P2 and P3 incidents
- Managed Backup – Remediation of failed backups
- Managed Security Patching – Delivery of recurring patch schedules
- Managed Network – Delivery of recurring firmware upgrades
- Taking ownership and performing prompt and effective incident investigations
- Effectively escalating any critical issues that require further attention
- Delivering several scheduled operational tasks including client specific checks
- Managing of risk and downtime during maintenance windows
- Identifying, triaging and remediating monitoring alarms across multiple client estates
- Taking ownership of tasks allocated and professionally manage them through to resolution or escalation
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve network and security tasks and vulnerability compliance
The right candidate for this role will have:
- Strong Microsoft Windows server knowledge shown in incident troubleshooting
- Good technical ability and self-awareness of when to escalate to a senior resource
- Comfortable navigation within customer Azure tenancies
- Good working evidence across the following infrastructure platforms:
- Microsoft Servers 2012 – 2019
- Cloud – O365, Azure, AWS, Mimecast
- RMM and Professional Monitoring toolsets
- Communication Platforms Teams/Skype
- Backup solutions – Veeam, DPM, Azure Site Recovery, Backup Exec
- Basic knowledge and understanding across one or more of the following technology stacks:
- Firewalls: Fortinet, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto
- Switching: Cisco, HP, Juniper, Meraki
- WAN/LAN networking related issues: TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, VPN
