Location: Remote (South Africa/Egypt/LATAM)

Working Hours: 9am - 5pm MST

Compensation: $2000 - $3000 dependent upon experience

About The Role

We’re seeking a high-caliber Controller to lead and transform our financial capability and bring order, clarity, and control to our accounting operations . This is a newly elevated position, replacing our previous accounting setup with a more strategic, experienced financial leader. You’ll play a critical role in strengthening our financial controls, streamlining reporting, and partnering with leadership to ensure long-term financial health and scalability.

You’ll lead financial operations with a focus on validating and improving our new inventory management system, ensuring accurate COGS reporting, and managing the integration with QuickBooks Online (QBO). You'll also oversee our bookkeeper and drive a disciplined, timely month-end close process with accurate financial reporting.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will design and implement the systems, controls, and reporting needed to scale the business sustainably.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Month-End Closings: Own and execute accurate, timely month-end closes across all entities.
• Validate Inventory & COGS: Ensure our inventory management system is correctly set up, connected, and accurately reporting COGS across all SKUs.
• System Integration & Oversight: Manage and improve the connection between our inventory system and QuickBooks Online (QBO), ensuring all data flows are reliable and audit-ready.
• Oversee the Bookkeeper: Provide day-to-day direction and oversight to our bookkeeper to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time. Ensure all entries, reconciliations, and classifications are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
• Improve Financial Reporting: Design and deliver better reporting mechanisms and dashboards that support executive decision-making.
• Establish & Maintain Financial Controls: Implement strong financial controls to protect the business and ensure compliance.
• Rebuild Financial Structure: Work closely with leadership to establish a sound, scalable financial foundation.
• Improve Financial Reporting: Create clear, actionable reports and dashboards that drive insight and support leadership decisions.
• Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with operations, sales, and leadership to provide financial insights and accountability.
• Lead Improvements: Identify process gaps and proactively lead improvement initiatives across all financial operations.
  
  

Qualifications

• Fluent in English with excellent communication and documentation skills
• 2-4+ years in a Controller or senior accounting role, ideally with experience in e-commerce, manufacturing, or inventory-driven businesses
• Proven success in building systems and processes from the ground up
• Deep experience managing month-end close, inventory reporting, and COGS
• Demonstrated ability to lead a bookkeeper or small finance team
• Hands-on experience integrating inventory platforms with QuickBooks Online
• Demonstrated leadership in financial structuring and reorganization
• Self-driven, highly trustworthy, and able to manage sensitive financial data with discretion
• Familiarity with Canadian ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises) is a strong asset
