Applications are invited for the Warehousing and Inventory Manager position to be based in Stellenbosch or Pretoria.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Warehousing and Inventory Manager will take charge of warehousing operations and play a pivotal role in ensuring end-to-end material availability, traceability and efficiency.

This role is responsible for overseeing all warehousing activities, including inventory control, inbound and outbound logistics, space optimization, team performance, and compliance. The Manager will ensure that all electronic equipment components and consumables are efficiently received, stored and dispatched to customer and own premise sites with minimal lead times and no losses.


Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

Leadership and management of the following functions:


  • Lead day-to-day warehouse operations across multiple locations.
  • Implement and optimize warehouse management systems to improve inventory accuracy and visibility.
  • Ensuring accurate stock levels, tracking incoming and outgoing shipments and minimizing loss.
  • Collaborate with field teams, and third-party logistics partners to align inventory with project timelines.
  • Monitor KPIs such as order accuracy, cycle times, and fulfilment rates; develop and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop SOPs for storage, handling, and disposal of second-hand equipment.
  • Manage budgetary goals related to warehousing and logistics operations.
  • Ensure that divisional tactics, targets, and projections regarding procurement matters are clearly understood and can be delivered on.
  • Establish controls in the process to ensure speed, cost, quality and risk metrics are achieved.
  • Facilitate effective and ongoing cross-functional alignment with all other functions through the formal management discipline of Herotel's.
  • Management Operating System as well as the implementation and management of partnership agreements
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.

Leadership:

  • Oversee and train warehouse personnel to foster a culture of accountability and efficiency.
  • Ensure that Team Leaders lead operational teams into action to execute plans by establishing daily, weekly, and monthly routines as well as running projects and ad-hoc activities.
  • Lead and coach team members to help them improve and to remain aligned to the tactical goals and culture of the business.
  • Align the function with other divisions, functions and regions.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in warehousing and logistics, preferably in telecom, construction, or manufacturing sectors, with at least 2 years management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and leading process improvements using lean principles.
  • Familiarity with handling and transporting fibre optic and wireless radio equipment and components is highly desirable.

Skills and competencies

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Be considered a supply chain subject matter expert.
  • Proven competency in leading a supply chain team, including the ability to analyse complex situations, identify and prioritize goals, and develop effective plans to achieve them.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) and implement plans.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying procurement best practice.

Education Requirements:

  • Grade 12.
  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field.
