Fire Safety
Develop fire safety plans and oversee fire systems.
Ensure compliance with SANS 10400-T, NFPA, and municipal bylaws.
Legal Compliance & Appointments
Manage legal appointments under OHS Act & MHSA.
Liaise with SAPHRA, NNR, and local authorities.
Prepare for audits and maintain compliance documentation.
Risk Assessments
Lead all types of risk assessments (baseline, task-based, continuous).
Use tools like TapRooT, Bowtie, and RCAT.
Maintain a central risk register and track controls.
Incident Investigation
Lead investigations and reporting (OHS Act, MHSA, MHI Regs).
Coordinate with SAPHRA, NNR, and environmental agencies.
Hazardous Chemical Management
Oversee handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
Maintain SDS, ensure proper training, and regulatory reporting.
Internal Capacity Building
Mentor HSE Officers and conduct internal audits.
Develop training programs aligned with legal and ISO standards.
Prepare for and support external regulatory audits.
Commissioning & Operational Readiness
Integrate safety into cold/hot commissioning and process startup.
Lead PSSRs, HAZOPs, emergency drills, and contractor safety.
Ensure all permits/licenses are in place before operations.
Qualifications and Experience :
Degree in Safety, Engineering, or related field (Postgrad preferred).
Certifications: SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, TapRooT, HAZOP, SAQCC (advantageous).
8+ years in HSE roles in mining, nuclear, or high-risk sectors.
Experience in legal compliance, audits, risk assessments, and commissioning safety
