Job Context
Servest Group is seeking an exceptional Group Bid Manager to lead our enterprise-wide bid management function. This is a leadership opportunity to drive strategic growth and operational excellence across our diverse business portfolio.
Minimum Requirements
Experience & Background:
- 10 years of progressive bid management and commercial leadership experience
- 3 years in management roles with direct P&L responsibility
- Hands-on experience managing complex, multi-million rand bids across diverse industry sectors
- Proven track record of achieving 60%+ win rates on competitive tenders
- Experience with government and private sector procurement processes
Technical & Operational Skills:
- Expert knowledge of bid lifecycle management from opportunity identification to contract award
- Advanced proficiency in bid management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong project management capabilities with ability to manage multiple concurrent bids
- Financial modeling and commercial analysis skills for pricing and profitability assessment
- Risk assessment and mitigation expertise in commercial environments
Leadership & Management:
- Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing commercial teams
- Experience managing geographically dispersed teams across multiple business units
- Strong coaching and mentoring abilities with track record of developing talent
- Change management experience in implementing new processes and systems
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, or related field
- Professional certifications advantageous
- Relevant industry experience in facilities management, security, or related service sectors preferred
Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute group-wide bid management strategies that drive competitive advantage
- Establish governance frameworks for bid approval, risk assessment, and resource allocation
- Lead strategic reviews of major bids and provide executive recommendations
Operational Excellence:
- Manage the full bid lifecycle for complex, multi-business unit proposals from RFP analysis to contract award
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across business units for integrated service delivery proposals
- Oversee bid submissions ensuring quality, compliance, and on-time delivery across all business units
- Implement and maintain standardized bid processes, templates, and quality assurance frameworks
- Drive continuous improvement through post-bid reviews and lessons learned implementation
Team Leadership & Performance:
- Directly manage Business Unit Bid Managers, setting targets and monitoring performance against KPIs
- Allocate resources effectively across business units based on opportunity pipeline and capacity
- Conduct regular performance reviews and implement development plans for team members
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice sessions across the bid management community
Client & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead client presentations and negotiations for strategic accounts and high-value opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers across major client organizations
- Coordinate with sales teams to develop compelling win strategies and value propositions
- Manage escalated issues and complex commercial discussions during bid processes
Financial & Commercial Management:
- Develop bid budgets and manage resource costs across the group bid function
- Analyze commercial proposals ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability
- Monitor bid performance metrics including win rates, margin achievement, and ROI
- Implement cost optimization initiatives while maintaining service quality standards
