Objective of the Position
To provide legal advisory services and support the coordination of legal matters within facilities management and advisory and transactions portfolio under Africa and the Middle East.
Operational Deliverables
Legal Advisory & Compliance
- Provide intermediate-level legal advice, guidance, and support to internal teams and clients
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations in the property industry
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to manage legal risks
- Monitor industry regulations and legislative changes affecting the business
Contract & Document Management
- Draft, review, and vet lease agreements, power supply agreements, and commercial storage agreements
- Prepare and manage antenna, masts, and ground lease agreements
- Create breach notices, letters of demand, and acknowledgment of debt agreements
- Oversee contract negotiations under supervision to protect company interests
- Maintain and update contract templates and legal precedents
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Liaise effectively with internal teams across various business units
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including clients and legal counsel
- Coordinate with vendors, customers, and clients on legal matters
- Facilitate delivery of legal advice to enable business imperatives
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Provide support on landlord/tenant litigation and property-related legal disputes
- Work with senior legal counsel to ensure effective resolution of legal matters
- Assist in responding to and finalizing letters of demand and legal notices
- Support debt collection processes and procedures
Administrative & Reporting Functions
- Track and report on legal risks, compliance, and contractual obligations
- Assist in drafting meeting minutes and legal correspondence
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making
- Maintain accurate legal documentation and filing systems
Experience / Education Requirements
Essential Requirements
- LLB degree (Bachelor of Laws)
- Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 3-4 years post-admission experience, of which 2 years’ experience in the corporate sector.
- Experience in corporate/commercial law
- Strong commercial legal drafting skills
Preferred Requirements
- Previous experience with contract management and negotiations
