Position: Project Accountant

Location: South Africa

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Accountant in South Africa. You will support project accounting activities across our local, regional, and global operations. This role works closely with the Finance team, Global Support Group (GSG), consultants, and project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking, efficient project delivery, and compliance with internal processes and client requirements.

Salary

The salary package offered for this position will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

Skills And Competencies

Core functions

• Set up and maintain projects in BST, ensuring accurate financial data.
• Support project managers with reporting, invoicing, and expense reconciliation.
• Process accounts payable, assist with billing, and contribute to debt collection.
• Collaborate with internal teams to prepare project-related documents and maintain financial compliance.
• Assist with general finance tasks including banking, supplier payments, and audits.
• Identify process improvements and support system efficiencies across global operations.

Qualifications And Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Project Accountant or finance role.
• Practical knowledge of finance systems and understanding of project life cycles.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Teams, Outlook).
• Strong experience with finance and project management systems (BST highly regarded).
• High attention to detail, with strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong clients focus and ability to build collaborative working relationships.
