Finance & Customer Technical Services Specialist.

Are you a finance professional with a strong foundation in accounting or financial management, and a passion for process improvement and data-driven decision-making? Aon Re Africa is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Finance team as a Finance, Client Technical Services Specialist. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work across treasury, client services, financial reporting, and business performance analysis.

Role Overview

In this multifaceted role, you will support the Finance Manager and Head of Finance by supporting treasury operations, resolving client technical queries, and enhancing financial processes. You will also contribute to business analysis and management accounting functions, ensuring accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and continuous improvement across financial systems and workflows.

What The Day Will Look Like

  • Financial & Management Reporting
    • Prepare and analyze management information reports using GRiDS and other systems to monitor business and team performance.
    • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to inform strategic decisions.
    • Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Client Technical Services
    • Resolve client technical queries in collaboration with broking and operations teams.
    • Oversee disbursements, unallocated cash, and bureau transaction management.
    • Monitor and manage fiduciary and non-fiduciary cash flows, ensuring timely recovery and allocation.
  • Business Analysis & Process Improvement
    • Conduct needs analysis and implement solutions to improve financial and operational processes.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI and Excel.
    • Track and analyze key metrics such as open brokerage, claims performance, and intercompany balances.
  • Treasury & Controls
    • Approve and release payments via GRiDS and online banking platforms.
    • Maintain strong internal controls over financial processes and ensure compliance with IFRS and US GAAP.
    • Monitor daily cashbook activity and follow up on outstanding items.

Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years in financial management, accounting, or business analysis.
    • Experience in the financial services or insurance/reinsurance sector is advantageous.
    • Familiarity with technical and financial accounting principles.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, and financial systems (e.g., GRiDS, PeopleSoft).
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Understanding of foreign exchange, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
