Amadeus GTD Southern Africa is looking to hire a Purchasing Specialist, aRegional Buyer in our Johannesburg Office. The position will be based in Fourways, Johannesburg.

General Support

Analyse market and supplier performance. Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures. Support in the development of specifications for different requirements.

A Successful candidate will have knowledge of the Amadeus business and will Work using existing procedures or guidelines and provides inputs to support/influence area decisions. Makes recommendations on new solutions and proposes improvements by analysing different sources of information.

Works with a moderate level of guidance and direction from manager.

Manage the purchase of hardware, software and services for all the companies in the MEA region; negotiate and review major procurement and managed services contracts with vendors and service providers in alignment with predefined policy rules.

  • Take the responsibility to drive and perform financial analysis to substantiate cost or re-source reduction recommendations.
  • Ensure that cooperative negotiation with major suppliers takes place and information and best practices are openly shared even when this responsibility is delegated to non-Purchasing teams.
  • Ensure that all external expenditure is subject to professional purchasing techniques, irrespective of the line-management accountability.
  • Define and manage purchasing KPIs and reporting needs including communication strategy with main regional stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for ensuring a proper coordination among all teams that may use purchasing and procurement tools.
  • Act as leader and change management driver for purchasing related activities in MEA, irrespective of the line-management accountability.
  • Define, implement and monitor the MEA sourcing strategy in order to improve strategic sourcing processes, systems and efficiency.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Create and maintain procurement records in accordance with regulatory and internal standards and guidelines.
  • Perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the Procure to Pay process, with a specific focus on the delivery management process.;
  • Provide indicators to the Manager, on a weekly basis, to identify bottlenecks and areas in need of improvement.
  • Handle specific ad hoc projects related to the procure to pay process including improvement initiatives for processes and tools.
  • Define and achieve MEA cost optimization and savings objectives in alignment with Group Purchasing direction, being also responsible for monitoring compliance with Group policies, developing and communicating purchasing policies and guidelines for all companies in the scope. Develop and implement purchasing procedures and processes through a benchmarking. Design and structure supplier performance measurements systems and implement a monitoring program.
  • Develop relationship network with key stakeholders in a regional basis and act as main purchasing authority in the region and as a link between MEA management and Global Purchasing unit. Collaborate with both Controlling and Transactional units in MEA to ensure proper alignment within Finance
  • Coordinate the formalization of contracts with the Legal team and other SMEs. Manage frequent procurement trainings to different stakeholders.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Business Administration or Industrial Engineering
  • Fluent English (mandatory) and highly preferred French
  • Ideally qualification in Procurement and/or Supply Chan Management or MBA

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience in a multinational company
  • Relevant regional/transnational management experience in most of MEA countries
  • Relevant experience in Purchasing, Sourcing or Supply Chain
  • Relevant experience purchasing multiple categories
  • Ideally with relevant experience in Travel distribution or IT sector
  • Ideally having been involved in internal negotiations with different stakeholders at relevant levels
  • Experience in Purchasing tools (ideally in SAP MM/SRM/Coupa) or other similar ERPs at least at functional level
  • Experience with Excel and reporting tools
