St Stithians Boys' College is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic History Teacher to join our innovative History Department. This is an opportunity for an experienced and initiative-taking educator to inspire young minds, foster a deep love for history, and contribute to a team that consistently achieves excellence in education. This position will be available from January 2026.
We invite applications from experienced and exceptional History educators who meet the following the requirements:
- A suitable professional teaching qualification from a recognised institution and a minimum of 5 years relevant educational experience which includes teaching of History up to Grade 12
- Previous experience in an IEB school would be an advantage, as would experience in IEB Matric marking
- Willingness to embrace rapid changes in education and the ability to integrate IT into your teaching and learning
- Openness to engage in professional development opportunities, including access to local training, research collaborations, and innovation in education
- To play a role in developing curriculum, mentoring younger teachers, and participating in enrichment initiatives
- Insight of curriculum knowledge and global trends in History, with particular respect to the decolonisation of the curriculum
- A proven record of excellence in teaching, assessment, and curriculum innovation
- A high level of organisational and administrative skills and commitment to team teaching in a busy department
- The ability to create and sustain relationships, and to mentor students in a boys’ school environment
- A passion for teaching and the proven ability to create a positive learning environment and to motivate and inspire learners to flourish as skilled and agile learners
- A willingness to work within the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College as well as to participate in the broader life of the school, including extra murals
- Proof of registration with SACE supported by a sexual offender’s clearance certificate
