The Department of Health is seeking a qualified Clinical Nurse Specialist for Alcohol & Drug Service Team Leader (500821m) in the North of Tasmania.
Please note the position is also being advertised as an Allied Health Professional in the North, this position will be filled on merit.
The Team:
We are a multi disciplinary team providing Alcohol and Drug treatment and support to clients and offer support to other services in treatment options and referral pathways.
The MDT team consists of Allied Health, Nursing and Medical Officers and is part of the SMHS alcohol and drug statewide service.
Located in Launceston in the North of the state.

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

The Role:
- Manage the delivery of services provided by the multidisciplinary team, including the allocation of human resources and provision of professional leadership and direction in treatment interventions strategies, health promotion and community education. The occupant will also act as a specialist in their field, providing advice and support across a broad range of alcohol and other drug issues.
- As a member of the area management team, contribute to the overall management of the regional service, including the development of partnerships with key stakeholders, professional development, contemporary best practice and future directions.
- Contribute to strategic service delivery issues, including policy review, developing new business initiatives and undertaking project work as required.
- Within a primary health care framework, regulate, monitor, supervise and support the practice of the multidisciplinary work team in the provision of treatment, education and health promotion interventions. Provide leadership in community practice and promote a professional focus and an environment conducive to innovation and change.
- Develop and maintain appropriate and effective relationships with client organisations, other Alcohol and Drug teams and sections of the Agency, government and non-government agencies.
- Undertake a leadership role in managing complex client referrals, complaints and incidents including the provision of detailed information, and collate and provide relevant correspondence and reports. Assume responsibility for negotiation on behalf of the multidisciplinary team for complex or difficult service delivery issues.

- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
- Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Have or working towards relevant Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) post graduate qualifications
Position Features:
- The job will be located at a major service centre, with requirement for the occupant to travel extensively throughout the specific region. Intrastate travel is required.
- From time to time, situations may arise requiring the resolution of complex issues or attendance at community forums, which will involve the occupant undertaking some out of hours work
