Learning & Development (L&D) Officer – Job Description
We are currently looking for a Learning & Development (L&D) Officer based in Johannesburg to join our dynamic team.
The Learning & Development (L&D) Officer is a delivery‑focused, facilitation‑accredited learning professional responsible for implementing, delivering, and reinforcing approved learning programmes across the business.
Purpose of the role:
- Deliver structured learning interventions
- Facilitate capability uplift at role level
- Reinforce behavioural, service, and performance standards
- Support certification, onboarding, and skills application
You do not own L&D strategy or frameworks — you execute learning with discipline, consistency, and professionalism.
Learning & Development Mandate (5 Core Pillars)
- Facilitated Delivery
- Deliver approved learning programmes using accredited facilitation methodologies.
- Capability Uplift
- Support measurable improvement in skills, confidence, and on‑the‑job application.
- Consistency
- Ensure learning content and behavioural standards are applied consistently across teams and locations.
- Application
- Reinforce learning through practice, coaching, and observation.
- Feedback Loop
- Provide structured insight into skills gaps and learning adoption back to L&D leadership.

Learning Programme Delivery (Facilitation Accredited)
- Deliver approved L&D programmes across:
- Sales
- Service
- Customer Experience
- Systems & CRM
- Product fundamentals (where applicable)
Facilitate
- Classroom training
- Virtual learning sessions
- Practical, workshop‑based learning
- Apply recognised adult‑learning and facilitation methodologies
Skills Reinforcement & Application
- Role‑plays
- Scenario‑based learning
- Practical exercises
- Support teams in translating theory into applied behaviour
- Observe performance on the floor and provide structured coaching input
Certification & Assessment Support
- Facilitate assessments, knowledge checks, and certification activities
- Support learners in achieving required competence levels
- Track progress, completion, and outcomes
- Escalate recurring learning or performance gaps
Onboarding & Refresher Training
- Support onboarding programmes for new employees
- Deliver refresher training for existing teams
- Reinforce key behavioural, service, and compliance standards
- Ensure learning consistency across locations and roles
Learning Administration & Reporting
- Attendance
- Completion
- Certification status
- Update LMS or learning trackers as required
- Learning uptake
- Engagement levels
- Capability gaps
Behavioural & CX Standards Reinforcement
Reinforce approved service behaviours
- Customer engagement standards
- Communication tone across channels
- Follow‑up and professionalism standards
- Act as a visible role model for expected behaviours
Operating Environment
- Multi‑site, multi‑role organisation
- Classroom, virtual, and experiential learning formats
- Frontline sales, service, and support teams
- Fast‑paced, execution‑driven operational environment
- Regular interaction with dealerships and operational leaders
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Learning & Development
- Human Resources
- Training or Education (Advantageous)
- Accredited Facilitator Qualification (Mandatory)
- ETDP / SETA accreditation (Mandatory))
Experience Requirements
- 2–5 years’ experience in:
- Learning delivery
- Training facilitation
- Capability development or skills programmes
- Experience working with adult learners and frontline teams
- Exposure to automotive, retail, or service environments advantageous

Salary
R 30 000 – R45 000 p/m basic salary including benefits (provident fund)
