Qualification: Minimum matric
Experience: Minimum 4 years experience Billing/Coding for a variety of Specialist doctors,
Allied’s and GP’s
Primary Responsibilities
• Billing Audit – Double check claims and fix them where necessary before posting to Medical Aids. This requires excellent knowledge of NRPL charge codes for all specialities like Surgeons, Gynaecologists, Paediatricians, Urologists, Physiotherapists, Psychiatrists, Physicians, Anaesthetists and GP’s. The positioning of codes and how to apply the various modifiers correctly. Also requires an excellent understanding of ICD codes in terms of primary, secondary and cause codes and positioning.
• Billing Optimisation – Whilst auditing the visit, identify if there’s any additional codes that should be billed
• Understanding and applying the various medical aid payment agreements when billing and check if applied correctly when auditing
• Review and identify pricing issues
• Receipting and distribution of billing
• Ensure number of claims received matches to number of claims billed
• Maintain and update outstanding billing queries
• Capturing patient data
• Meticulous attention to detail and accurate data capturing
• Capturing patient visits
• Stay updated on new industry billing rules
• Adhering to the SAMA billing guide and the various rules applied by the medical aids
• Evaluating workflows for effectiveness, identifying opportunities, and providing ideas and solutions
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Package
Salary – R15 000 to R25 000 depending on experience
