Fitter

We are seeking a skilled, motivated, and safety-conscious Fitter to join our Mechanical Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of mechanical equipment and machinery to ensure optimal operational performance. This role requires strong technical expertise, fault-finding abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high engineering and safety standards.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT WILL NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Assembling and installing machines then testing them to make sure they are working correctly.
• Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations.
• Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts.
• Dismantling older machines and replacing them with new ones.
• Preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts.
• Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts.
• Ad Hoc duties.

REQUIREMENTS

• Appropriate Trade Qualification.
• 5 to 10 years’ proven experience as a fully independent Fitter.
• Strong mechanical knowledge.
• Good fault-finding skills.
• Dependable, reliable, responsible, and fulfilling obligations.
• Integrity - Honest and ethical.
• Initiative - Take on responsibilities and challenges.
• Analytical thinking - Analysing information and using logic to address work related issues and problems.
• Adaptability/Flexibility - Job requires being open to change and to considerable variety in the workplace.
• Persistence - Job requires persistence in the face of obstacles.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills (listen, speak, read, write).
• Must be willing to work overtime and standby duties.
• Good general health.
• Must be able to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
• Working in confined spaces and at heights.
• Own Transport.
• Coal and oil-fired boiler experience.
• Health and safety knowledge.
